CARING FOR YOURSELF POST-PROCEDURE

Immediately After Treatment

  1. Redness and Warmth:

    • It’s normal for the skin to feel warm, appear red, or slightly swollen for a few hours to a day after treatment. Use a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth to soothe the area.

  2. Avoid Touching:

    • Refrain from touching, picking, or scratching the treated area to prevent irritation or infection.

First 24-48 Hours

  1. Gentle Cleansing:

    • Use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water to gently clean the skin. Pat dry with a clean, soft towel.

  2. Hydration:

    • Apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and promote healing.

  3. Avoid Makeup:

    • Avoid makeup or heavy skin products for at least 24 hours.

First Week After Treatment

  1. Sun Protection:

    • Avoid sun exposure, and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily, even indoors.

    • Wear a wide-brimmed hat or protective clothing when outdoors.

  2. No Exfoliation:

    • Do not use scrubs, retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs until the skin has completely healed (usually 7-10 days).

  3. Avoid Heat and Sweating:

    • Refrain from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, or strenuous exercise for 48-72 hours post-treatment.

  4. Pigmentation Changes:

    • Darkened spots may appear on the skin (treated pigmented areas) and will flake off naturally over the next 7-14 days. Do not pick or scrub them.

Ongoing Care

  1. Follow-Up Treatments:

    • For best results, complete the series of recommended BBL treatments as advised by your provider.

  2. Skin Maintenance:

    • Use medical-grade or dermatologist-recommended skincare products for ongoing skin health and to maintain results.

What to Avoid

  • Avoid products containing alcohol, retinoids, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid for at least 7-10 days.

  • Do not engage in activities that could irritate the skin, such as waxing, threading, or chemical peels, until the skin is fully healed.
