PREPARING FOR YOUR TREATMENT
One Week Before Treatment
-
Avoid Sun Exposure:
-
Minimize direct sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher).
-
Avoid tanning beds or artificial tanning products.
-
-
Discontinue Certain Products:
-
Stop using retinoids (e.g., Retin-A, Tretinoin), alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), and other exfoliating agents.
-
Avoid products with harsh chemicals, such as benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone, or glycolic acid.
-
-
No Aggressive Treatments:
-
Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, or other facial treatments on the area to be treated.
-
-
Stop Blood-Thinning Agents:
-
If approved by your healthcare provider, discontinue use of aspirin, ibuprofen, and supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, or ginkgo biloba to reduce the risk of bruising.
-
Three Days Before Treatment
-
Avoid Hair Removal:
-
Do not wax, thread, or use depilatory creams on the treatment area.
-
-
No Alcohol or Smoking:
-
Refrain from consuming alcohol or smoking, as these can impair healing and increase the risk of bruising.
-
-
Stay Hydrated:
-
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and ready for treatment.
-
Day of Treatment
-
Clean Skin:
-
Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup, lotions, oils, or sunscreen.
-
Avoid applying any skincare products on the treatment area.
-
-
Comfortable Attire:
-
Wear loose-fitting clothing if the treatment area is on the body to avoid irritation.
-
-
Health Considerations:
-
Inform us if you:
-
Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
-
Have any skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, or active acne) or recent infections in the treatment area.
-
Are taking medications such as isotretinoin (Accutane) or antibiotics, as these may require postponing the procedure.
-
-
Additional Notes
-
If you have a history of cold sores and the treatment area includes the face, you may need antiviral medication to prevent an outbreak.
-
Plan your treatment at least 1-2 weeks before any special events to allow for any potential redness or swelling to subside.
CARING FOR YOURSELF POST-PROCEDURE
Immediately After Treatment
-
Redness and Sensitivity:
-
Mild redness, warmth, and slight swelling are normal and typically subside within 24-48 hours.

The skin may feel tight or like a mild sunburn.
-
-
Do Not Touch the Skin:
-
Avoid touching, rubbing, or picking at the treated area to prevent infection or irritation.
-
-
Cooling and Comfort:
-
If needed, use a cool compress to soothe the skin. Avoid applying ice directly to the treated area.
-
First 24-48 Hours
-
Avoid Makeup and Skincare Products:
-
Do not apply makeup, sunscreen, or any skincare products unless specifically recommended by your provider.
-
Use only a gentle, hydrating cleanser and a soothing, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
